Record walks with your phone's GPS: route and statistics

You start recording when you head out together: your phone's GPS logs route, distance, duration and speed, even with the app in the background. Afterwards you review the route and today's goals, worked out for your pet. PawsPet is not a pet tracker: it records the outings you take together.

  • The app is free, with no subscription.
  • You invite whoever you want, area by area.
  • The AI prepares, you confirm.
You record with your phone's GPS while you are with your pet: here time is sped up and the steps after «Finish» are skipped. PawsPet is not a tracker.

Route, distance, duration and speed

Choose the pet and the type of outing and tap «Start recording»: the map draws the route and the numbers go up. You can pause and resume; with no signal, the points stay on your phone.

  • One or more pets on the same outing: you choose who comes along.
  • Even with the app in the background, the GPS keeps logging the route.
  • Pause stops the clock and the GPS; «Resume recording» picks up from there.
  • If the app closes, in the «Activities» tab you find «Recording in progress»: resume it, or stop it and save it.

Once the outing is over, you find it in the calendar, on the day it started:

A recording on pause and, in the «Activities» tab, the one to resume after the app was closed.

The route, coloured by pace

At the end you review the track in slow, normal and fast stretches, with distance, duration, average and top speed, and the speed chart.

  1. Slow

The stretches where you stop or go slowly: on the map they have their own colour, as in the legend.

  2. Normal

Your everyday pace. In «Statistics» you see distance, duration and speed split by pace.

  3. Fast

Runs and sprints. With one pet on the outing, the thresholds take its species into account.

The route in the activity details and, in «Statistics», the distance split by pace.

Everything PawsPet does for dog owners:

Today's goals, worked out for your pet

Minutes of activity and, where relevant, kilometres: the app works them out from your pet's type, age, weight, height and breed. They cannot be set by hand; with weight and height they become more accurate.

  • The minutes bar is always there; the kilometres bar only when your pet needs a distance goal.
  • Today's activities count, including those recorded with GPS: a goal reached fills the bar.
  • You find the same bars on your pet's page too, under «Profile».

If weight and height are missing, your pet's page shows «Add measurement»:

In «Activity statistics», today's bars; on your pet's page, the prompt to add weight and height.

Horses: jumps in training

In horse riding, show jumping, endurance, cross-country and horse trekking, the phone detects jumps and estimates their airtime and height. Keep it steady, in a pocket or a holder.

  • Detection is on only with these activity types: other outings record route and numbers, without jumps.
  • At each jump an alert shows the airtime and the estimated height; at the end, the summary lists them one by one.
  • In the recording panel, one row counts the jumps detected and shows the last one.

How to record an outing in the app

  1. Start recording from the red button

In the «Activities» tab tap the red button, choose the pets and the activity type, then «Start recording». The first time, your phone asks for permission to use your location.

  2. Pause, «Resume recording» and «Finish»

If you stop, pause and then resume; with «Finish» the recording is saved. If the app closes, when you reopen it you find «Recording in progress» and can carry on.

  3. Review route and statistics

Open the activity: «Route completed» shows the map and the numbers of the outing. From the ☰ menu » «Statistics» you see today's goals and the summary of the week.
